Job Description:

Senior Financial Analyst

Location: Orlando, Florida (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Reinsurance Accountant for a permanent opportunity. This role involves working with reports on client claims and premiums, investigating numerical data, analyzing discrepancies, and reporting findings to leadership. The successful candidate will be assigned approximately 20 accounts to manage, becoming a subject matter expert on each. This position combines accounting, finance, and administrative duties and is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys in-depth numerical analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze quarterly financial reports for assigned reinsurance treaties under Statutory, IFRS, and Solvency II frameworks.
  • Investigate and provide clear explanations for reporting period variances.
  • Conduct analysis of client-reported data to ensure accuracy in accordance with treaty guidelines.
  • Identify and communicate potential financial risks or unusual reporting trends to stakeholders.
  • Prepare financial workpapers, schedules, and reconciliations for internal deliverables and external audits.
  • Calculate and analyze Experience Refunds and Loss Carryforwards.
  • Identify and investigate client reporting inconsistencies, implementing corrections as needed.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and ad hoc reports.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience with a background in both accounting and finance is required.

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel is required. Experience with Microsoft Access, Word, and Hyperion Reporting is also needed.

Professional Skills: An analytical mindset with the ability to ask questions and identify differences is essential. Candidates must be team players, resourceful, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the insurance, reinsurance, or banking industries.
  • Familiarity with SAP or experience working with macros.
  • A CPA designation or a background in actuarial science.
  • Knowledge of Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and balance sheets.

Work Environment

This position operates in a remote work environment. The role requires the use of standard office equipment and communication tools to perform daily responsibilities.
