A rapidly growing real estate investment trust (REIT) is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the financial reporting and close process for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. This role provides the opportunity to work cross-functionally with internal teams and third-party operators, while managing accounting staff and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end close and preparation of financial statements for assigned real estate portfolio

  • Ensure financial records comply with U.S. GAAP and internal controls

  • Supervise and review the work of accounting team members and third-party data sources

  • Prepare and review journal entries, workpapers, and supporting schedules, especially for complex or high-risk areas

  • Coordinate with internal departments including reporting, treasury, and legal to support integrated financial processes

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financials, variance analyses, and SEC-related disclosures

  • Support internal controls documentation and continuous process improvements

  • Monitor debt compliance and review cash flow projections

  • Manage audit engagements and respond to requests from internal and external auditors

  • Contribute to investor reporting and executive presentations for board and committee meetings

  • Lead and prioritize ad hoc research and projects independently

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting in a REIT or real estate investment environment

  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience with Yardi, Workday, OneStream, and/or Workiva is a plus

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities

  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and departments

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
