The Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of application and platform changes into production environments. This role focuses heavily on overnight maintenance windows, ensuring deployments are executed accurately, safely, and according to established release management processes. The Release Manager serves as the central point of coordination for release activities, working closely with development, QA, Platform Engineering, operations, and business stakeholders. The position ensures all releases are properly scheduled, approved, validated, communicated, and successfully deployed with minimal business disruption. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives through release analysis, risk management, lessons learned reviews, and process optimization.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage application and platform releases into production environments.
- Schedule and oversee deployment activities during maintenance windows.
- Ensure release content is validated, approved, and properly communicated prior to implementation.
- Coordinate release readiness activities including dependency reviews, risk assessments, and stakeholder alignment.
- Review deployment plans, implementation procedures, rollback strategies, and contingency plans.
- Serve as the central point of contact during production releases.
- Guide technical teams through deployment activities and monitor progress against approved release plans.
- Manage real-time communication during release execution and maintenance windows.
- Coordinate issue resolution efforts and escalation activities when deployment challenges arise.
- Ensure post-deployment validation activities are completed successfully.
- Confirm release success criteria are achieved before closing implementation activities.
- Track release risks, dependencies, issues, and mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate release review meetings and lessons learned sessions.
- Drive ongoing improvements in release management processes, controls, and governance.
- Support cross-functional coordination between development, testing, platform engineering, business teams, and operations groups.
- Maintain release documentation, deployment records, and audit readiness requirements.

- 6 10 years of release management, deployment management, project coordination, or related experience.
- Proven experience coordinating application and platform releases in enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced production support environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, risk assessment, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience collaborating across development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams.
- Ability to work flexible schedules supporting release windows and offshore overlap requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to support overnight maintenance windows and production release schedules.
- Must be available during offshore overlapping morning hours as required.
- Onsite attendance of 4 days per week is mandatory.
- Remote work is not an option.
- Existing or former Charter employees/contractors require a 6-month cooling period per Statement of Work requirements.
