Think Consulting is currently seeking a Release Manager to support a contract opportunity with our client. This is a remote role supporting software release coordination. Candidates must be able to work Eastern business hours, 8:00am to 4:00pm EST. Occasional travel may be requested on a quarterly basis for in person client strategy and planning meetings.

The Release Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating Agile software releases within a PMO support environment. This person will serve as a liaison between VA project managers, stakeholders, and a third party software development team to support release planning, deployment coordination, documentation review, and production release readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain release management plans, protocols, and procedures in alignment with VA policies and best practices.

• Lead release planning activities, including schedule management, stakeholder communication, change control, Go No Go coordination, and deployment readiness.

• Coordinate deployment windows by facilitating release activities, communicating status updates, troubleshooting issues, and supporting post deployment validation.

• Collaborate with VA leadership, business users, developers, testers, operations teams, and PMO team members to support successful release execution.

• Review release candidates in Jira to validate documentation, test results, version description documents, and release notes.

• Serve as a release management subject matter expert and help identify process gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

• Act as a gatekeeper for production release activity, helping ensure consistency across policies, procedures, integration testing, and production validation.

• Prepare and present project status, risks, outcomes, and action items to internal and external stakeholders.

• Facilitate executive level virtual meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting notes, action item tracking, and follow up.

• Support the broader PMO team by sharing best practices, documentation, and process improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in release management, production operations, project coordination, or a related role.

• Experience working as a federal contractor or federal employee.

• Experience supporting government clients or stakeholders in a consulting environment.

• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle, Agile methodologies, and release management best practices.

• Experience using Jira or a comparable development management tool.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and related business tools.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with government clients and senior stakeholders.

• Ability to organize work independently, manage competing priorities, and complete assignments on time.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Bachelor’s degree.

• PMP certification.

• Must be a US Citizen.

• Must be able to satisfy government background investigation and onboarding requirements, including a Moderate Background Investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working as a VA contractor or VA employee.

• Experience with MS Project and MS Visio.

• Experience supporting Agile teams performing continuous delivery.
