Release Train Engineer (RTE) – SAP S/4HANA ERP Program

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support a large-scale SAP S/4HANA ERP Transformation Program. This role will serve as a servant leader and coach for an Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating delivery execution, release planning, risk management, and performance reporting across multiple agile teams.

The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in SAP ERP implementations, SAFe Agile methodologies, IT performance management, and data-driven program reporting. This individual will partner closely with Release Managers, Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Release Train Leadership

• Serve as the Release Train Engineer (RTE) for a major SAP S/4HANA implementation program.
• Facilitate Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies, including:
  • PI Planning
  • Scrum of Scrums
  • ART Syncs
  • System Demos
  • Inspect & Adapt Workshops
• Coach agile teams and stakeholders on SAFe principles, practices, and execution.
• Foster collaboration across multiple teams within the ART.

Program Delivery & Release Management

• Support Release Managers by providing holistic release management capabilities.
• Coordinate release planning activities, timelines, milestones, and delivery cadences.
• Track feature, capability, and sprint execution progress across teams.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and impediments impacting delivery.
• Provide escalation management and facilitate issue resolution.

Performance Management & Reporting

• Develop and maintain program performance metrics and dashboards.
• Measure and report:
  • Sprint performance
  • Release health
  • ART maturity
  • Delivery predictability
  • Team velocity
  • Risk indicators
• Champion KPI, OKR, and outcome-based measurement frameworks.
• Provide executive-level reporting and actionable insights to leadership.

Data Analytics & Visualization

• Analyze data from multiple sources to generate strategic insights.
• Perform data mining and aggregation from:
  • Databases
  • APIs
  • Enterprise repositories
• Build dashboards and visualizations using tools such as:
  • Power BI
  • Power Automate
  • Python
• Deliver meaningful reporting to support decision-making and program governance.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, Architects, and Delivery Teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and development execution.
• Support feature and capability estimation activities.
• Provide input on resource planning and capacity management.
• Facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in systems analysis, software development, ERP implementation, or enterprise technology delivery.
• 5+ years of Agile delivery experience in roles such as:
  • Release Train Engineer
  • Scrum Master
  • Product Owner
  • Agile Program Manager
  • Agile Delivery Lead
• Experience supporting large-scale SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA implementation programs.
• Strong understanding of SAFe Agile principles and practices.
• Experience facilitating Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies.
• Proven experience managing risks, dependencies, and delivery metrics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
