    Job Duties

    Accurately interprets, evaluates and dispenses pharmaceuticals to the nursing units including checking for appropriateness of therapy. Controls pharmacy inventory. Maintains accurate control medication inventory and records. Is knowledgeable of and follows laws and regulations pertaining to pharmacy as set forth by FDA, Virginia Board of Pharmacy, and Federal law. Assures all records and reports required by Federal and State law and facility policies are kept current and accurate. Provides information to facility physicians and other facility staff on all aspects of pharmacy and pharmaceutical care. Assures that facility policies are adhered to by the pharmacy department. May assist in writing policy or procedures for the pharmacy department. All other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent. B.S. Pharmacy with current Virginia license. At least have one year of experience as a pharmacist in charge in an inpatient pharmacy setting a plus.

    Salaries for current state employees will be determined according to the current state compensation plan.
