Reliability Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Reliability Engineer in Orlando, Florida for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role is responsible for component-level reliability analysis and accelerated life testing to validate product reliability and lifecycle performance. The position works closely with design engineers, material scientists, test labs, and program teams to identify reliability risks early and drive mitigation through analysis, testing, and design improvement.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
• 3–5 years of hands-on reliability engineering experience with expertise in component-level FMECA and accelerated aging or thermal cycling tests
• Proficiency with reliability analysis standards such as MIL-STD-1629A and IEC 60812
• Strong knowledge of failure physics, degradation mechanisms, and material behavior under stress
• Ability to develop and interpret test plans using ASTM, IEC, or MIL test methods
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent analyses and test programs, meet deadlines, and maintain documentation control
• Strong root cause analysis, risk assessment, and data interpretation skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Technical writing experience and ability to present to large groups

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with model-based engineering tools such as Cameo
• Experience with reliability software such as ReliaSoft, Weibull++, or ANSYS Reliability
• Experience with statistical tools such as Minitab, R, or Python
• Practical hands-on experience with hardware test and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Experience managing subcontractors in the reliability field

What You’ll Do

• Create and maintain component-level FMECA worksheets in accordance with applicable reliability standards
• Identify failure modes, causes, and effects on system performance
• Assign criticality rankings and document mitigation strategies
• Update FMECA results throughout the product development lifecycle and capture lessons learned
• Define accelerated life test objectives and acceleration factors using appropriate reliability models
• Coordinate test execution with internal laboratories
• Support reliability risk identification, quantification, and mitigation through analysis and testing
• Collaborate with engineering and program teams to improve product reliability and lifecycle performance
