Position Summary
Help fulfill the university's mission by teaching students and providing content expertise in the following Religious Education Cornerstone courses:
The Eternal Family (REL 200C)
Foundations of the Restoration (REL 225C)
Jesus Christ and the Everlasting Gospel (REL 250C)
The Teachings and Doctrine of the Book of Mormon (REL 275C)
Additional teaching responsibilities may include other Religion courses offered by the university, advising students, and other departmental and university assignments.
Throughout their careers, all BYU-Idaho faculty are expected to actively pursue professional development opportunities in learning and teaching and ongoing scholarly development within their discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Advanced degree required (master's or doctorate) with a minimum of five years of teaching experience in Church Educational System (CES) institutions (Seminary and Institute, BYU, BYU-Hawaii, etc.) or five years of related full-time professional experience.
Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. This will often, but not always, come from years of successful teaching in CES.
Applicants must be sound doctrinally and demonstrate the ability to expound doctrine and principles in ways that lead students to a deeper understanding of the scriptures and prophetic counsel while encouraging personal application and more committed discipleship.
Applicants for appointment must have the personal character, faith, testimony, and qualities of life that provide a powerful role model for students.

Work Schedule
Full-time faculty members teach 36 load hours annually, across Fall, Winter, and Spring Semesters; this total includes up to 6 load hours of professional development. In the days immediately preceding and following semesters, faculty members attend meetings, grade papers, perform professional development activities, etc. Semesters last approximately 14 weeks, and annual faculty contracts cover 47.5 weeks.
