    Job Summary:

    Disassemble, inspect and reassemble industrial packages, air ends, blowers and other compressed air system components as part of Rogers Machinery’s remanufacturing and reconditioning (reman/recon) program, restoring returned or high-hour units to like-new specification. This includes mechanical connections, supports, structures, and control panels.  Ability to perform tasks related to production and warehousing.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Receive, disassemble, and evaluate returned or core units (air ends, blowers, and other compressed air system components) to determine remanufacturing/reconditioning scope and salvageable parts.
    • Assemble mechanical assemblies including air ends, blowers and other compressed air system components.
    • Inspection of components for proper assembly, specifications, fit and finish.
    • Plans assembly and positions components according to knowledge of unit being assembled and through interpretation of engineering and layout drawings and schematics.
    • Positions components with a forklift, overhead crane or manually and fastens parts together with bolts, screws, rivets, or other fasteners, using hand and portable powered tools.
    • Remove small quantities of metal with hand files, scrapers or machine tools to produce close fit between parts.
    • Install tubing and fittings for oil lubrication/cooling systems.
    • Install plumbing.
    • Align couplings and subassemblies to gearbox or other components.
    • Operate drill presses, hydraulic presses, welders and other shop equipment to assist in assembly operations.
    • Test completed assemblies for proper operation, temperature, vibration and noise levels and complete required written reports.
    • Evaluate core condition and root cause of wear or failure using system troubleshooting methodology and diagnostic tools; determine reman/recon disposition (repair, rebuild, or replace) for each component
    • Read and follow sketches, schematics, blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications, and maintenance manuals to determine rebuild and troubleshooting procedures.

     Additional Job Duties:

    • Communicate updates and procedures, verbally and in writing, as required
    • Work in conjunction with Floor Supervisor to ensure assemblies meet workorder parameters.
    • Perform workstation and shop clean-up duties as assigned.
    • Support shipping, receiving, and inventory activities as required.
    • Pull parts for current assigned work and post to work order.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     Qualifications:

    • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
    • Previous experience must include mechanical assembly and disassembly.
    • Proficiency in reading and using handheld mechanical measurement devices (micrometer, dial indicator, caliper) as well as electrical measurement devices
      • (Fluke meter).
    • Proficiency in applying electrical and mechanical principles
    • Proficiency in reading and wire equipment in conformance with electrical schematics
    • Proficiency to recognize common mechanical and electrical components

    Preferred Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Must work well with others in a safe and self-directed manner

    Reading: Ability to read and interpret the following documents: operating and maintenance manuals, employee manuals, safety guidelines, mechanical sketches, electrical and mechanical reference charts.

    Verbal: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees. Ability to discern what questions to ask when requirements are unclear.  Participate in meetings, discussion groups and occasional committees effectively.

    Writing:  Document readings and create legible reports using MS Office products and ERP system often.

    Mathematics: Ability to measure and determine proper clearances and fits on metal parts using micrometers, straight edges, calipers and feeler gauges.

    Reasoning: Ability to solve problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

    Learning: General learning ability is above average. Finger and manual dexterity, spatial perception and motor coordination are required to be above average.

    Physical Demands:

    • Be able to exert a force of 25 lbs. frequently and 50lbs occasionally
    • Constant stooping, balancing, crouching, reaching, push, pull, use of finger dexterity. Needs to be able to stand for extended periods of time. Needs to be able to move without restriction in a shop environment.
    • Near acuity is needed constantly and depth perception frequently.
    • Working at a bench or on shop floor.

       Pay Range:

    • $26 - $32 per hour
