    Description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for US-based clinical law professors, clinic directors, and experienced legal educators with expertise in civil legal services, live-client supervision, legal pedagogy, and structured evaluation of complex legal reasoning.

This short-term role supports an AI research initiative focused on improving legal analysis across housing, family, consumer, debt, and related civil legal matters. Selected professionals will evaluate AI-generated responses, assess issue spotting and procedural reasoning, and provide structured feedback grounded in doctrinal knowledge, clinical teaching, and practical supervision experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    Civil Legal Analysis Evaluation

    • Review AI-generated responses involving common civil legal-services matters
    • Assess issue spotting, legal reasoning, factual application, and procedural accuracy
    • Identify unsupported conclusions, overlooked legal issues, and incomplete analyses
    • Evaluate whether proposed guidance reflects sound legal judgment and realistic civil practice

    Clinical Practice & Procedural Review

    • Assess scenarios involving housing, family, consumer, debt, and related civil law matters
    • Review procedural steps, available remedies, filing considerations, and client-centred strategy
    • Evaluate whether responses account for practical barriers faced by clients navigating the legal system
    • Apply experience from live-client clinics and supervised legal practice

    Legal Pedagogy & Structured Feedback

    • Provide detailed written feedback explaining the strengths and weaknesses of each response
    • Assess whether legal analyses demonstrate clear organisation, sound reasoning, and appropriate professional judgment
    • Apply teaching and supervision experience to identify gaps in legal understanding
    • Recommend specific improvements to analytical structure, issue development, and procedural guidance

    Evaluation Standards & Collaboration

    • Help refine scoring criteria and evaluation frameworks for civil legal reasoning
    • Apply consistent standards across varied legal scenarios and response formats
    • Collaborate with legal specialists and research teams to improve reference materials
    • Participate in calibration activities to support accurate and reliable evaluation outcomes

    Ideal Profile

    Strong candidates may have:

    • Experience directing, supervising, or teaching within a law school clinic
    • Current or previous admission to practise law in at least one US jurisdiction
    • Expertise in one or more civil legal-practice areas
    • Strong understanding of clinical legal education, client representation, and professional supervision
    • Experience evaluating legal writing, student work, case strategy, or practical legal performance
    • Excellent legal writing, analytical judgment, and attention to detail
    • Ability to provide precise and constructive written feedback
    • Availability to contribute approximately 15 hours per week

    Educational Background

    • A Juris Doctor degree is required
    • Current or previous US bar admission is required
    • Additional education or professional training in clinical legal education, civil procedure, access to justice, or legal pedagogy may be valuable
    • Academic appointments or leadership experience within a law school clinic are especially relevant

    Nice to Have

    • Experience as a Clinical Professor of Law, Clinic Director, or senior supervising attorney
    • Background in housing, family, consumer, elder, disability, or debt-law clinics
    • Experience developing legal curricula, assessment rubrics, or experiential-learning materials
    • Published scholarship, practice guides, educational resources, or clinical teaching materials
    • Experience supervising law students, fellows, junior attorneys, or multidisciplinary teams
    • Familiarity with access-to-justice initiatives, legal aid programmes, or community legal services
    • Previous involvement in legal technology, AI evaluation, structured legal review, or quality-assurance projects

    Why This Opportunity

    • Apply clinical teaching and civil-practice expertise to an emerging legal research initiative
    • Help improve the quality of AI-generated legal reasoning used in education and practice
    • Evaluate realistic scenarios involving civil legal services and client representation
    • Contribute practical insights from live-client supervision and legal pedagogy
    • Participate in an intellectually engaging short-term project with competitive compensation

    Contract Details

    • Independent contractor role
    • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
    • Available to professionals based in the United States
    • Expected commitment of approximately 15 hours per week
    • Estimated project duration of approximately 2–3 weeks
    • Competitive compensation of up to $175 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
    • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
    • Work may include legal-response evaluation, procedural analysis, rubric refinement, written feedback, and calibration activities
