My client, a booming commercial construction company with nearly 40 years in business and projects across six states, is adding a Commercial Construction Accountant due to growth. This is a 100% remote role. The salary is up to $80,000 base, with a raise up to $85,000 after 90 days, plus bonus. Great benefits, including a 5% 401(k) match and awesome PTO. Permanent direct hire. This is a hands-on position involving multi-entity accounting, payroll, journal entries, construction-related accounting functions, and administrative duties. The role requires a strong understanding of GAAP and strong, practical Excel skills, including formulas, data organization, and spreadsheet troubleshooting.

Responsibilities of the Commercial Construction Accountant:

• The Commercial Construction Accountant will report to the CFO and prepare and post journal entries while supporting the month-end close process, including reconciliations and WIP.
• 
  
• Manage monthly customer billing by generating invoices, validating schedules of values, collaborating with project managers on billing requirements, and monitoring project revenue, budgets, and contract balances.
• 
  
• Review and distribute accounts payable reports, ensure proper coding of corporate card transactions and employee expenses, and assist with collections efforts by following up on outstanding customer receivables.

• Support payroll processing by reviewing timecards, mileage, per diem, and reimbursement data, and recording payroll-related journal entries.
• 
  
• Administer sales tax filings, year-end 1099 reporting, insurance and compliance documentation, and support intercompany transactions.

Preferred Qualifications for the Commercial Construction Accountant:

• 
  
• Must have commercial construction accounting experience and be ok with manual processes.
• 
  
• Must have advanced Excel experience including formulas, VLOOKUPS, and pivot tables (there is an Excel assessment).
