    Description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced corporate and controllership accountants with hands-on expertise in financial reporting, general ledger ownership, period-end close, reconciliations, and core accounting operations.

This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on translating real-world accounting and controllership workflows into structured evaluation materials. Selected professionals will develop realistic accounting scenarios, review model-generated outputs for accuracy and GAAP compliance, and provide detailed written feedback across financial reporting, bookkeeping, and operational accounting tasks.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Scenario Development

    • Design realistic scenarios involving financial-statement preparation and reporting
    • Develop tasks covering journal entries, account analysis, and supporting schedules
    • Create practical assignments reflecting routine and complex controllership responsibilities
    • Ensure scenarios accurately represent professional accounting workflows and documentation standards

    Period-End Close & Reconciliations

    • Develop and review month-end, quarter-end, and period-end close scenarios
    • Evaluate general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
    • Assess accruals, prepaid expenses, cut-off considerations, and adjusting entries
    • Identify calculation errors, unsupported balances, and incomplete close procedures

    Accounting Operations

    • Create tasks involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bookkeeping operations
    • Review fixed-asset registers, depreciation schedules, and related journal entries
    • Assess transaction coding, account classification, and operational accounting controls
    • Evaluate whether accounting treatments are complete, consistent, and appropriately supported

    AI Output Evaluation & Feedback

    • Review and compare AI-generated accounting outputs for accuracy and GAAP compliance
    • Assess journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and reporting conclusions
    • Identify unsupported assumptions, classification errors, and weaknesses in professional judgment
    • Provide clear written feedback explaining strengths, errors, and required corrections
    • Collaborate asynchronously with research and quality-review teams

    Ideal Profile

    Strong candidates may have:

    • At least 3–5 years of corporate, in-house, public accounting, or client accounting experience
    • Hands-on ownership of the general ledger and period-end close process
    • Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
    • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and core US GAAP principles
    • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and accounting operations
    • Experience reviewing accounting work prepared by other professionals
    • Excellent written communication and close attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently within an asynchronous project environment

    Educational Background

    • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline is highly relevant
    • CPA credentials may strengthen an application
    • Advanced accounting coursework or professional training may also be valuable
    • Equivalent senior-level experience in corporate accounting, controllership, or client accounting services may be considered

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar accounting platforms
    • Advanced Excel or spreadsheet-modelling skills
    • Background in bookkeeping or client accounting services
    • Experience supporting audits, financial reviews, or management reporting
    • Familiarity with fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and prepaid-expense accounting
    • Knowledge of close checklists, account-certification processes, and reporting controls
    • Previous involvement in task writing, rubric development, structured evaluation, or AI training-data work
    • Experience working across multiple entities, business units, or accounting systems

    Why This Opportunity

    • Apply practical accounting and controllership expertise to advanced AI evaluation work
    • Develop realistic scenarios grounded in financial reporting and close-management practice
    • Influence how AI systems reason through core accounting tasks
    • Review challenging outputs involving journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and reporting judgments
    • Participate in flexible remote work with competitive hourly compensation

    Contract Details

    • Independent contractor role
    • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
    • Competitive rates between $75–$115 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
    • The application process may include a resume or professional-experience summary
    • Applicants may be asked to describe their accounting practice areas, specialties, and certifications
    • Selected candidates may complete a brief sample task
    • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
    • Work may include scenario development, accounting-output evaluation, written feedback, and quality calibration
    • Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance
    • Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
