Remote | Developmental Psychology (PhD) — $100–$200/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for PhD-level professionals with strong expertise in developmental psychology, child development, cognitive and psychosocial development, research, cultural analysis, and psychological evaluation to contribute to an advanced AI training and psychology-focused evaluation project.

Selected professionals will review and annotate datasets related to child development, evaluate AI-generated psychological content, contribute to scenario and guideline development, and provide expert feedback on developmental accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and psychological relevance. The opportunity is particularly suited to researchers and academics in developmental psychology or child development, with or without direct clinical experience. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Child Development Analysis

• Evaluate content involving children's learning, behaviour, and development
• Apply developmental-psychology principles to age-relevant scenarios
• Assess whether representations of child development are psychologically appropriate
• Identify developmental inaccuracies or oversimplifications
• Provide expert interpretation of cognitive, linguistic, social, and behavioural development

Dataset Review & Annotation

• Review and annotate datasets related to developmental psychology
• Apply consistent psychological criteria across evaluation tasks
• Identify inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading content
• Provide structured annotations supporting AI-training workflows
• Maintain high standards of scientific and conceptual accuracy

AI Psychological Evaluation

• Review AI-generated outputs involving child development
• Assess psychological accuracy and developmental relevance
• Identify inappropriate generalisations or unsupported interpretations
• Provide detailed feedback to improve model performance
• Contribute domain expertise to evaluation and training processes

Scenario & Test Case Development

• Develop realistic scenarios involving children's learning and behaviour
• Contribute expert perspectives to developmental-psychology test cases
• Create examples reflecting age-appropriate developmental considerations
• Support evaluation of AI reasoning across complex psychological situations
• Ensure scenarios remain grounded in recognised developmental principles

Cognitive & Linguistic Development

• Analyse cognitive-development concepts
• Evaluate language-development considerations
• Review age-related learning and communication patterns
• Identify content that does not align with expected developmental processes
• Support development of guidance addressing linguistic and cognitive differences

Psychosocial Development

• Evaluate psychosocial factors relevant to child development
• Review scenarios involving emotional, social, and behavioural development
• Assess whether AI-generated content reflects appropriate developmental context
• Identify missing contextual factors where relevant
• Support psychologically informed model behaviour

Cultural Appropriateness

• Evaluate developmental content across diverse cultural backgrounds
• Identify culturally inappropriate assumptions or generalisations
• Consider how language and cultural context may affect developmental interpretation
• Support development of more context-sensitive evaluation standards
• Provide nuanced feedback on culturally varied child-development scenarios

Guideline Development

• Create or refine guidelines for AI systems addressing developmental topics
• Define appropriate standards for psychological accuracy
• Support guidelines covering linguistic, cognitive, and psychosocial dimensions
• Translate research knowledge into practical evaluation criteria
• Help improve consistency across AI interactions involving child development

Research & Scientific Review

• Apply academic and research expertise to project tasks
• Evaluate evidence underlying developmental claims
• Distinguish established findings from unsupported conclusions
• Incorporate relevant developmental-psychology concepts into evaluations
• Support scientifically rigorous AI-training materials

Technical Documentation & Collaboration

• Document findings and recommendations clearly
• Produce detailed written explanations of psychological reasoning
• Collaborate remotely with interdisciplinary project teams
• Incorporate feedback into revised evaluations or guidelines
• Communicate complex developmental concepts in precise professional language

Ideal Profile

• PhD in Developmental Psychology, Child Development, or a closely related field
• Strong academic or research background in child development
• Deep understanding of developmental psychology
• Expertise in cognitive, linguistic, social, or psychosocial development
• Experience evaluating research or psychological data
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to explain complex psychological concepts clearly
• Comfortable reviewing and annotating structured datasets
• Research or academic experience may be sufficient; direct clinical experience is not required
• Experience with technology-driven, digital, or AI-related projects involving child development is highly desirable
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Experience collaborating with distributed interdisciplinary teams is beneficial
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details
