    Description

    We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced emergency medicine physicians with direct knowledge of triage, rapid clinical decision-making, patient stabilisation, and emergency department operations.

    This short-term occupational research study is designed to improve how the work, responsibilities, and day-to-day tasks of emergency medicine physicians are documented within a US occupational framework. Selected physicians will complete a one-time online survey or interview based on their current or recent professional experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    Occupational Survey Participation

    • Complete a one-time online survey or interview about day-to-day emergency medicine practice
    • Provide accurate information about the responsibilities and decisions associated with the role
    • Describe common clinical, operational, and patient-management tasks
    • Help clarify how emergency medicine work is performed in real clinical settings

    Emergency Care Workflow Review

    • Share insight into triage, immediate evaluation, stabilisation, and patient disposition
    • Describe how emergency physicians respond to time-sensitive and high-risk presentations
    • Explain the professional judgment involved in preventing death or further disability
    • Provide perspective on directing and coordinating emergency department staff when required

    Role & Task Validation

    • Review descriptions of emergency medicine responsibilities for accuracy and completeness
    • Help distinguish emergency medicine physician work from adjacent healthcare occupations
    • Identify missing, outdated, or unclear task descriptions
    • Contribute practical context grounded in independent emergency medicine practice

    Optional Follow-Up Participation

    • Participate in an additional survey, task, or short interview when invited
    • Provide clarification or further detail on occupational responsibilities
    • Review follow-up questions related to emergency department practice
    • Receive separate compensation for any optional additional work

    Ideal Profile

    Strong candidates may have:

    • At least 4 years of experience practising emergency medicine
    • Current employment in emergency medicine or experience in the role within the past 12 months
    • Direct knowledge of triage, urgent clinical decision-making, patient stabilisation, and disposition
    • Experience practising independently in an emergency department
    • Strong understanding of emergency department workflows and physician responsibilities
    • Ability to describe professional tasks clearly and accurately
    • Current residence in the United States

    Educational Background

    • A medical degree and professional credentials supporting independent practice as an emergency medicine physician in the United States are expected
    • Completed postgraduate clinical training in emergency medicine is highly relevant
    • Professional experience should reflect independent physician-level responsibility
    • Residents and fellows who have not yet practised independently are not eligible

    Nice to Have

    • Experience across high-volume or varied emergency department settings
    • Background supervising or directing emergency medical staff
    • Familiarity with occupational research, clinical surveys, or professional interviews
    • Experience explaining clinical workflows to non-clinical audiences
    • Broad exposure to emergency presentations, triage categories, and patient-disposition decisions
    • Availability for a brief optional follow-up activity

    • Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
