The Sprinkler Designer uses AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks to create accurate, code-compliant layouts and shop drawings while collaborating closely with engineers, architects, local officials, and customers. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to critical fire protection projects within a stable, growing, and family-oriented organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems for data centers and other facilities using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to develop accurate sprinkler system designs.
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings and plans that comply with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Collaborate with local officials to ensure designs meet regulatory and code compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, and customers to clarify design requirements and resolve coordination issues.
  • Incorporate feedback from project stakeholders into design revisions and updates as needed.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving design conflicts or clashes through coordination in Navisworks and related tools.
  • Support internal project teams by providing technical input on sprinkler system design and layout.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design files in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Follow established design workflows and best practices under the guidance of leadership.

Essential Skills

  • 3-9 years of sprinkler design experience, including hands-on experience in data center sprinkler design.
  • Proficiency in Revit for fire protection and sprinkler system layout and coordination.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks for model coordination, clash detection, and design review.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for sprinkler system design and drafting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of applicable fire protection codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Experience designing and coordinating sprinkler systems in complex building environments, particularly data centers.
  • Effective communication skills to work with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, detailed shop drawings and design documents.
  • NICET Level II or Level III in Fire Protection (Sprinkler) preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical considerations related to fire protection systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • NICET Level II or Level III certification in fire protection or sprinkler layout is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a structured design team under design management or senior leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, code-compliant designs.
  • Ability to adapt to company-specific software, standards, and processes within the first several months.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a large, family-owned fire protection organization.
  • Comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model after an initial acclimation period, typically ranging from 1 to 6 months, during which the Sprinkler Designer becomes familiar with the company's software, standards, and operational procedures. Once acclimated, the role generally allows 2-3 days per week of remote work, with the remaining time spent on-site collaborating with the team. The Sprinkler Designer works under the guidance of the Sprinkler Design leadership and senior executives, benefiting from mentorship and support within an established fire protection organization.
