    Remote Full Stack Software Engineer – Java / Python / JavaScript

    Job Summary

    Sigma Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Remote Full Stack Software Engineer to join an Agile software engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering complex, scalable software applications across digital channels.

    The Full Stack Developer will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including idea generation, requirements analysis, technical design, architecture, development, testing, code reviews, and implementation.

    The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on development experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript, along with experience in technologies such as React, Angular, Node.js, NoSQL, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

    Candidates should also have experience developing applications or designing technology solutions within a healthcare environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop scalable, highly available software applications and programs.
    • Create engineering specifications and technical designs for software solutions.
    • Write clean, efficient, fault-tolerant, and maintainable code that follows established coding standards.
    • Participate in peer code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
    • Evaluate technical approaches and implement solutions that support required product features.
    • Consider functionality, scalability, performance, and long-term technical capabilities when designing solutions.
    • Participate in the full software application development lifecycle from initial concept through final implementation.
    • Translate design mockups, prototypes, requirements, and user stories into working applications.
    • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning and development activities.
    • Assist with story creation, Definition of Done (DoD), acceptance criteria, and estimation.
    • Create and maintain development tasks in tools such as Jira or RTC.
    • Monitor development progress against project schedules and provide regular status updates.
    • Identify and communicate technical issues and blockers to the Scrum Master and lead developers.
    • Collaborate with software engineers, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
    • Mentor associate and junior software engineers as needed.
    • Support continuous improvement of software engineering practices and development processes.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of software development experience using one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Java, Python/Django/Flask, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, JavaScript, or Go.
    • 5+ years of experience defining system architectures and evaluating technical feasibility and trade-offs.
    • 5+ years of experience designing solutions or developing applications in healthcare environments.
    • 5+ years of experience translating design mockups, prototypes, and user stories into working applications.
    • 5+ years of experience developing fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable code.
    • 3+ years of experience with algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and building/deploying scalable and highly available systems.
    • 3+ years of experience with at least one modern programming language, preferably Java, Python, or JavaScript. ACE, IIB/ITX, or Informatica experience may also be considered.
    • 3+ years of experience with at least two of the following technologies:
      • React
      • Angular v4+
      • Node.js
      • NoSQL databases
      • HTML5
      • CSS
      • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
      • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Experience with web services and technologies such as REST APIs, HTTPS, and JSON preferred.
    • Strong understanding of professional software engineering practices throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Experience with coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and production operations.
    • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
    • Experience designing and implementing large-scale, consumer-facing applications.
