Job Details

Advise and represent management-side clients on California labor and employment matters, serving as first- or second-chair in California state and federal litigation and arbitration, with additional exposure to the firm's nationwide commercial litigation practice. The firm currently engages local counsel for California matters and is building this seat in-house for someone who can handle both advice-and-counsel work and litigation when needed.

• Advise management-side clients on California-specific employment law, including wage-and-hour, meal and rest break, and PAGA compliance
• Serve as first- or second-chair in California state and federal court litigation and arbitration — travel is occasional given the firm's strong settlement track record, with specific court/city concentration to be discussed in interviews
• Defend EEO, discrimination, sexual harassment, restrictive covenant, and retaliation claims in both individual and class action settings
• Support the firm's nationwide commercial litigation practice, including commercial contract, government contract, construction, and white collar civil disputes, since the practice is not limited to California matters
• Share travel responsibilities with the DC-based L&E and Litigation partners as needed

Looking for:

• California Bar admission required
• Willingness to submit a DC Bar waiver application before start date (admission itself can follow after hire)
• 5+ years of substantive labor and employment litigation experience

Experience in any of the following areas welcomed:

• Wage-and-hour and meal/rest break class actions
• PAGA representative actions
• EEO, discrimination, and sexual harassment defense
• Restrictive covenant and retaliation matters
• Government contracts or commercial litigation (a plus, not required)
