Job Title: Remote Logistics Engineer
Job Description:
The logistics engineer leads integrated logistics support (ILS) activities for complex defense-related systems, using Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) and logistics engineering software to develop and maintain comprehensive logistics products. This role analyzes engineering data, supports Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition requirements, and ensures that provisioning, maintenance, and support documentation are accurate, compliant, and optimized for lifecycle support. The position serves as a primary technical point of contact for ILS on assigned projects and provides leadership across cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, lead, and direct all aspects of a cross-functional Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team in accordance with DoD requirements.
- Perform functional, reliability, and maintainability analyses to support RAM objectives and lifecycle support planning.
- Conduct human factors and system safety analyses to ensure safe, effective, and maintainable system designs.
- Perform supportability analyses and provisioning activities to optimize system availability and maintainability.
- Use engineering drawings to generate and maintain Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) documentation.
- Develop and maintain provisioning data and Logistics Support Analysis Reports (LSAR) to support system sustainment.
- Develop and maintain Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and associated program plans in accordance with relevant military and industry standards.
- Create and maintain Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC) to define maintenance levels and responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTL) to support maintenance and supply operations.
- Develop and maintain Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP) to support National Stock Number (NSN) assignment.
- Develop and maintain pack-out lists and packing configurations for equipment shipped to customers.
- Utilize Logistics Information Management Systems (LIMS), including tools such as Repair Data and Sprocket, to manage and analyze logistics information.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for all ILS aspects of assigned projects, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical management and leadership for subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams involved in logistics and support activities.
- Coordinate and conduct technical liaison with design and systems engineering teams to ensure logistics considerations are integrated into system designs.
- Collaborate with technical writing and curriculum development personnel to ensure accurate and complete technical manuals and training materials.
- Develop Modification Work Orders (MWO) in accordance with applicable military performance specifications.
- Develop Provisioning Technical Documentation (PTD) in accordance with SAE-GEIA-STD-0007-B, SAE-GEIA-HB-0007-B, and SAE-TA-HB-0007-1.
- Interpret and apply Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) data in logistics and maintenance planning.
- Interpret and apply Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) data in accordance with SAE-ARP-4761 and SAE-ARP-4754 to support system safety and reliability.
- Develop Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) in accordance with SAE-GEIA-STD-0007, SAE-GEIA-HB-0007, and TA-HB-0007-1.
- Provide input to project schedules using MS Project and support planning, organizing, and executing all logistics aspects of assigned projects from concept to completion.
- Support cost, schedule, and risk management activities for logistics and support elements of engineering development projects.
- Apply an understanding of DoD acquisition processes and analytical methods to gather, analyze, and evaluate information required by program and project managers.
- Use advanced Microsoft Office tools to prepare analyses, reports, presentations, and documentation related to logistics engineering activities.
Essential Skills:
- US Citizenship.
- 5+ of demonstrated experience using Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) and logistics engineering software.
- 5+ years of logistics engineering experience.
- Experience with the US Army Logistics Data Analysis Center (LDAC) PowerLOG-J or similar Logistics Management Information (LMI) databases.
- Experience with the US Army Computerized Optimization Model for Predicting and Analyzing Support Structures (COMPASS).
- Proficiency in using engineering drawings to develop and maintain logistics and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to generate and maintain Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), provisioning data, Logistics Support Analysis Reports (LSAR), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTL), Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP), and pack-out lists.
- Experience with Logistics Information Management Systems (LIMS), including tools such as Repair Data and Sprocket.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to create complex documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of DoD acquisition processes.
- Ability to apply analytical methods and techniques to gather, analyze, and evaluate information for program and project management.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of developing Modification Work Orders (MWO) in accordance with applicable military performance standards.
- Ability to develop Provisioning Technical Documentation (PTD) in accordance with SAE-GEIA-STD-0007-B, SAE-GEIA-HB-0007-B, and SAE-TA-HB-0007-1.
- Ability to read and understand Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working in an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) project environment and familiarity with EVMS processes and techniques in an engineering development context.
- Experience with Department of the Army technical manual development using Arbortext or other XML authoring software.
- Understanding of Reliability and Maintainability (RAM) predictions and analysis using tools such as RELEX and similar software.
- Experience with document and configuration management software such as Windchill or comparable tools.
- Experience using MS Project to provide input to schedule preparation and to plan, organize, and execute all aspects of assigned projects from concept to completion, including cost, schedule, and risk management support.
Work Environment:
This role is fully remote (only specific states are eligible for fully remote work).
Eligible states for remote work: MD, NC, VA, AZ, AL, FL.
Involves working closely with engineering, logistics, technical writing, and project management teams in a collaborative environment.
The position requires regular interaction with cross-functional stakeholders, including subcontractors and vendors, and the use of various logistics engineering, configuration management, and project management software tools.
Would be working on a 9/80 schedule.
