We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for musicians, music producers, audio engineers, and sound professionals with native or near-native proficiency in Mexican Spanish and strong English comprehension.
This role supports an advanced generative music AI initiative focused on evaluating musical outputs across lyrics, vocals, production quality, musicality, and structured audio characteristics. Selected professionals will compare AI-generated music samples, score training data, and provide detailed annotations grounded in professional music and audio expertise.
Key Responsibilities
AI Music Evaluation
- Review AI-generated music, lyrics, vocals, and related audio outputs
- Compare music samples head-to-head using defined evaluation criteria
- Assess musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and overall production quality
- Identify weaknesses in composition, performance, arrangement, and audio execution
Audio & Production Quality Review
- Evaluate mix quality, sound balance, clarity, dynamics, and production choices
- Apply appropriate audio-engineering terminology when documenting assessments
- Identify technical or stylistic issues affecting the quality of generated music
- Compare alternative outputs and determine which demonstrates stronger musical execution
Music Annotation & Classification
- Annotate songs using structured taxonomies and evaluation guidelines
- Identify genre and sub-genre characteristics
- Analyse song structure, arrangement, and musical form
- Document vocal, instrumental, rhythmic, and production characteristics
- Maintain consistent annotation standards across assigned tasks
Spanish-Language Music Review
- Evaluate lyrics and musical content written or performed in Mexican Spanish
- Assess linguistic naturalness, lyrical quality, phrasing, and cultural appropriateness
- Identify awkward wording, pronunciation issues, or unnatural lyrical construction
- Apply knowledge of Spanish-language songwriting and musical expression
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a music producer, audio engineer, sound mixer, musician, or related music professional
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish (Mexico)
- Strong English comprehension for project instructions and evaluation guidelines
- Experience writing or working with lyrical music in Spanish
- Strong understanding of musical performance, theory, songwriting, and production
- Ability to evaluate music critically and communicate judgments clearly
- Strong attention to detail and consistency across repeated evaluation tasks
- Availability to contribute at least 10 hours per week
Educational Background
- A degree in music, music production, audio engineering, sound design, or a related discipline may strengthen an application
- Academic training involving musical performance, theory, composition, or songwriting is highly relevant
- Equivalent professional experience in music production, engineering, performance, or songwriting may also be considered
- Practical industry experience and demonstrated musical expertise are particularly valuable
