We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced legal professionals with expertise in patent law, intellectual property workflows, regulatory compliance, legal analysis, risk assessment, and specialised legal reasoning.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI legal reasoning evaluation, patent and compliance scenario design, legal response review, structured legal analysis, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will create realistic legal tasks, review AI-generated legal outputs, assess reasoning quality against professional standards, and provide structured feedback based on detailed evaluation criteria.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Patent & Compliance Scenario Development

• Author realistic legal scenarios based on patent prosecution, patent litigation, regulatory compliance, and practitioner workflows
• Develop tasks involving patent drafting, claim construction, invalidity analysis, IPR review, freedom-to-operate opinions, regulatory filings, and compliance risk assessment
• Create high-quality reference responses that reflect professional legal judgment and specialised domain expertise
• Support task design across patent, intellectual property, regulatory, privacy, financial crime, healthcare, trade, and corporate compliance contexts

AI Legal Response Evaluation

• Review AI-generated legal responses for accuracy, reasoning quality, completeness, and professional relevance
• Evaluate whether responses appropriately address legal standards, ambiguity, risk, edge cases, factual assumptions, and practitioner-style analysis
• Identify unsupported conclusions, incomplete legal reasoning, missing risk considerations, weak analysis, or inaccurate application of legal frameworks
• Grade outputs against structured rubrics and project-specific evaluation criteria

Structured Legal Feedback & Quality Control

• Produce clear, precise, and well-supported written feedback on legal reasoning outputs
• Explain assessment decisions with consistency, attention to detail, and professional legal judgment
• Provide detailed rationale that can support improved legal reasoning quality in evaluation workflows
• Follow task instructions, confidentiality requirements, and quality standards accurately

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

• 3+ years of professional experience in patent law, regulatory compliance, or a closely related legal practice area
• Experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, regulator, government agency, or specialised legal advisory environment
• Strong legal reasoning skills across ambiguity, risk assessment, legal standards, professional judgment, and written analysis
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to explain complex legal reasoning clearly
• Ability to create realistic legal scenarios and evaluate legal outputs with accuracy and nuance
• Comfort applying structured rubrics, detailed project instructions, and quality criteria consistently
• Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous, project-based environment

Educational Background

• J.D., LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent legal qualification is highly relevant
• Active or inactive bar admission in a U.S., U.K., or Canadian jurisdiction may be relevant depending on project scope
• Patent-focused candidates may have USPTO, CIPO, UKIPO, patent attorney, or patent agent registration in good standing
• Patent-focused candidates may also have a technical background in engineering, computer science, life sciences, chemistry, or a related technical field
• Compliance-focused candidates may have hands-on experience with AML/BSA, OFAC, FCPA, HIPAA, FDA, GDPR/CCPA, export controls, or related regulatory frameworks

Nice to Have

• Experience with patent drafting, prosecution strategy, office action responses, claim construction, invalidity analysis, IPR, or freedom-to-operate opinions
• Experience with regulatory filings, compliance program review, privacy compliance, healthcare compliance, sanctions, anti-corruption, financial crime, or export control matters
• Certifications such as CIPP, CFE, CAMS, or similar compliance credentials may be valuable
• Experience preparing legal memos, advisory notes, risk assessments, compliance policies, training materials, or structured legal analysis
• Comfort identifying legal ambiguity, edge cases, unsupported conclusions, incomplete risk analysis, or weak practitioner reasoning
