Real Time Generation Operator

Job Summary

Operate and monitor generating facilities in accordance with Wellhead Power eXchange (WPX) operating procedures, and all applicable agreements and tariffs via remote control systems in response to dispatch schedules and real time instructions received via the CAISO's Automated Dispatch System (ADS) including:

• Real Time Operations- monitor the CAISO's Automatic Dispatch System (ADS) notification screen for instructions relevant to generators controlled and operated by Wellhead Services, Inc. (WSI)
• Start, stop and adjust generators via remote control system in response to instructions received vis ADS.
• Casualty Control and Emergency Response
• Logging of plant parameters and events in accordance with established practices.
• Report alarms and/or abnormal conditions to the on-call plant technicians and/or plant manager in accordance with established practice
• Communications with facility Scheduling Coordinators (SC) if SC is not WPX
• Site Security monitoring
• Telecom support
• Operations Reports- obtain and enter historical info into various spreadsheets and databases, perform analysis of historical industry data, perform internet based research and data retrieval
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma/GED and one to two years related experience and/or training; completion of a trade school or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for Engineering Students.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities

Prefer strong background and fluency in word processing and spreadsheet software. AutoCAD a plus.
