Schedule Information:
Hours: 40 hours weekly (Full-Time)
Note: Requires high-speed internet, a documented secure home office space, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
What You’ll Do:
Chart Analysis: Review, analyze, and interpret medical records for assigned encounters, accurately identifying all documented diagnoses and procedures.
Expert Coding: Deliver top-tier expertise in same-day surgery, observation, and ancillary coding, applying extensive knowledge of medical necessity and modifier guidelines.
Code Assignment: Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCs codes in strict accordance with AHIMA standards, UHDDS, and Official Coding Guidelines.
Quality Compliance: Consistently maintain a 95% or greater accuracy score, research assigned coding projects, and perform ongoing analysis for coding compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: 2+ years of outpatient medical coding experience (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Ancillary). Experience working with Cerner is strictly required.
Certifications: Active credential from AHIMA (CCS, RHIA, RHIT) or AAPC (CPC, COC) is mandatory.
Knowledge Base: Extensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, OPPS regulatory requirements, CCI edits, and injection/infusion coding guidelines.
Technical Requirements: Passing score on an online coding proficiency test, strong Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Word, Excel), and preferred experience with encoders like 3M, Codify, or Optum.
