Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing prior authorizations and determining their approval or denial for a Pharmacy Services department within a large healthcare insurance company. You will handle all health plans and types of medications, ensuring accurate processing and communication with pharmacists for final review.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejects and conducting member and physician outreach.
  • Enter member demographics and prescription information into the data processing system.
  • Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues and escalated member issues.
  • Escalate questions regarding prescriptions to a pharmacist for interpretation or guidance.
  • Assist with inbound and outbound patient or physician calls.

Essential Skills

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by state of operation.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Nationally Certified Technician and Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of residence.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with call center, PBM, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings.
  • Familiarity with prescription benefits management.
  • Ability to handle multiple screens and systems in a remote work environment.
  • Strong Wi-Fi and a dedicated office space with a closed door.
  • Possession of a smart phone.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional remote environment, requiring a strong internet connection and personal office space. The role involves working with multiple systems and screens. Equipment such as a computer, monitor, and headset will be provided. The shift requires availability Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm in the local time zone, with rotating weekends and holiday schedules. Training hours are 10am to 6:30pm EST, followed by regular shift allocation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
