Join us on our mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people.The ideal candidate is passionate about process improvement and excited to leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to help build a more efficient and scalable accounting function.Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliationsHelp maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliationsEnsure compliance with GAAPIdentify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled tools, and process improvements to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and accelerate the month-end close process.Respond to information requests and assist with the annual financial statement auditAnalyze financial statements and GL accounts to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual fluctuations are in line with expectations and documentedPrepare operational and ad hoc reporting for additional analysis associated with financial statement areas assignedAssist accounting leadership as needed90 Day Plan Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:Take ownership of preparing financial statement areas assigned to you (potential areas may include revenue, cost of goods sold, inventory, administrative fees, and others)Identify at least one opportunity to streamline an accounting process through automation, AI-enabled tools, or workflow improvements that enhance efficiency and support a faster close.Establish strong working relationships cross functionallyMust-Haves Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance3-4 years of experience preferably with a public accounting/private accounting mixCPA preferredExperience with one or more complex areas of accounting including but not limited to revenue recognition, inventory, stock-based compensation, debt/equity financing, business combinations or investmentsExperience leveraging automation, AI tools, or advanced technology solutions to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, or close efficiency preferred.Ability to read and analyze financial statements/reportsComfort with ambiguity and lack of formally defined processesPublic company exposure preferred (either through Audit or industry background)Strong problem solving and analytical skillsProficient in Microsoft ExcelHighly organized and detail orientedComfort working in a fully remote settingValues-driven culture Virta's company values drive our culture, so you'll do well if:You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equallyYou have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the sameYou prioritize positive impact over busy workYou have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experienceYou appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of informationYou are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogmaYou take risks and rapidly iterateIs this role not quite what you're looking for? Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. For this role, the compensation range is $83,738 to $110,000.
