We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced Shopify professionals with deep expertise in e-commerce operations, platform data models, analytics, and real-world Shopify workflows to contribute to an advanced AI training project.
Selected professionals will review Shopify-related analytical tasks and scenarios, assess whether they accurately reflect real platform behaviour, and provide expert feedback on data structures, terminology, metrics, and workflow design. The work requires practical, hands-on knowledge of Shopify and e-commerce analytics, with a strong emphasis on realism, completeness, and operational accuracy. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Shopify Workflow & Data Model Review
- Review proposed Shopify and e-commerce task structures for alignment with real-world platform workflows
- Assess whether scenarios accurately reflect Shopify's underlying data model
- Evaluate the use of core Shopify objects including orders, products, customers, and reporting structures
- Identify where proposed workflows diverge from actual operator or analyst behaviour
- Apply hands-on Shopify expertise to validate task realism and technical relevance
E-Commerce Analytics & Scenario Evaluation
- Review analytical scenarios involving conversion, retention, cohorts, revenue, and related e-commerce metrics
- Assess whether metrics, definitions, and assumptions reflect standard Shopify and e-commerce practice
- Identify gaps, unrealistic assumptions, edge cases, and incomplete analytical logic
- Evaluate whether proposed tasks are sufficiently comprehensive and representative of real business use
- Recommend refinements that improve analytical accuracy and practical relevance
Terminology, Metrics & Best Practices
- Validate terminology and definitions against accepted Shopify and e-commerce analytics conventions
- Recommend improvements to task structures, metric definitions, and analytical frameworks
- Highlight inconsistencies in language, data interpretation, or platform assumptions
- Suggest additional cases that better represent operator and analyst perspectives
- Apply current Shopify best practices when reviewing content and task design
Expert Feedback & Project Collaboration
- Provide clear, actionable written and verbal feedback on task quality and realism
- Explain why specific workflows, assumptions, or data structures require adjustment
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and improve deliverables
- Contribute practical insights grounded in direct Shopify implementation and operational experience
- Maintain consistent, high-quality feedback across iterative review cycles
Ideal Profile
- 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience within the Shopify ecosystem
- Experience across store operations, development, analytics, consulting, or comparable Shopify-focused work
- Comprehensive knowledge of Shopify's data model, including orders, products, customers, and reporting
- Strong foundation in e-commerce analytics, including conversion, retention, cohort, and revenue analysis
- Demonstrated ability to identify unrealistic assumptions, incomplete workflows, and data-model inconsistencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to provide clear, practical, and actionable expert feedback
- Experience advising on best practices for Shopify-related analytical work
- Experience working across multiple Shopify stores, consulting engagements, or agency environments is advantageous
- Familiarity with Shopify Plus, advanced reporting, SQL, or BI platforms such as Looker is beneficial
- No prior experience in AI research or model training is required
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Compensation: $60–$100/hour
- Work will involve Shopify workflow review, e-commerce analytics evaluation, data-model validation, and expert feedback
- No prior experience in AI is required
- The hiring process may include an AI interview, recruiter and team interviews, followed by offer and onboarding if selected
- Project scope, workload, timing, and duration may evolve depending on project requirements
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, store, or other third party
