This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on translating real-world tax accounting workflows into structured evaluation materials. Selected professionals will develop realistic tax scenarios, review model-generated outputs, assess technical conclusions, and provide detailed written feedback across corporate, individual, partnership, state and local, and international tax matters.

    Key Responsibilities

    Tax Compliance Scenario Development

    • Design realistic scenarios involving Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
    • Develop tasks reflecting return preparation, workpaper review, filing positions, and supporting calculations
    • Assess whether tax treatments are technically accurate and appropriately documented
    • Identify missing information, calculation errors, and unsupported filing positions

    Tax Provision & Technical Analysis

    • Create and review scenarios involving ASC 740 tax provision work
    • Evaluate current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analyses, and uncertain tax positions
    • Assess the application of relevant tax rules to complex transactions and entity structures
    • Review technical conclusions for accuracy, consistency, and defensible support

    Planning, Notices & Controversy Support

    • Develop tasks involving estimated payments, tax planning, and scenario modelling
    • Review responses to tax notices, information document requests, and examination queries
    • Assess controversy-support materials and proposed responses to taxing authorities
    • Evaluate whether recommendations reflect sound professional judgment and practical tax considerations

    AI Output Evaluation & Feedback

    • Review and compare AI-generated tax analyses, calculations, and written recommendations
    • Identify technical errors, unsupported assumptions, and incomplete reasoning
    • Determine whether proposed tax positions are accurate and defensible
    • Provide clear written feedback explaining strengths, weaknesses, and required corrections
    • Collaborate asynchronously with research and quality-review teams

    Ideal Profile

    Strong candidates may have:

    • Professional experience in tax accounting, compliance, provision, planning, or controversy
    • A clear tax specialisation in corporate, individual, partnership, pass-through, SALT, or international taxation
    • Public accounting or in-house tax department experience
    • Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns
    • Familiarity with ASC 740 and technical tax research
    • Strong understanding of tax documentation, filing positions, and professional judgment
    • Excellent written communication and close attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently within an asynchronous project environment

    Educational Background

    • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, economics, or a related discipline is highly relevant
    • CPA or Enrolled Agent credentials are strongly preferred
    • Advanced tax training or a master's degree in taxation may strengthen an application
    • Equivalent senior-level experience in public accounting or corporate tax may also be considered

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with corporate, individual, partnership, or pass-through taxation
    • Background in state and local tax matters
    • Familiarity with international or cross-border tax issues
    • Experience preparing or reviewing ASC 740 tax provisions
    • Knowledge of estimated payments, tax planning, and cash-tax forecasting
    • Experience responding to notices, audits, or information document requests
    • Previous involvement in task writing, rubric development, structured evaluation, or AI training-data work
    • Experience reviewing tax work prepared by other professionals

    Why This Opportunity

    • Apply practical tax expertise to advanced AI evaluation work
    • Develop realistic scenarios grounded in tax compliance, provision, planning, and controversy
    • Influence how AI systems reason through complex tax questions and filing positions
    • Review challenging outputs involving calculations, technical analysis, and professional judgment
    • Participate in flexible remote work with competitive hourly compensation

    Contract Details

    • Independent contractor role
    • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
    • Competitive rates between $75–$115 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
    • The application process may include a resume or professional-experience summary
    • Applicants may be asked to describe their tax practice areas, specialities, and certifications
    • Selected candidates may complete a brief sample task
    • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
    • Work may include scenario development, technical-output evaluation, written feedback, and quality calibration
    • Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance
    • Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
