Responsibilities:
The Renewal Underwriter plays a critical role in retaining profitable business and achieving adequate rate across assigned accounts. As part of a collaborative “one team” approach, this role supports the Broker Specialists in maintaining strong broker relationships while focusing on desk underwriting. The Renewal Underwriter is responsible for evaluating renewal submissions, negotiating terms, and ensuring underwriting integrity and profitability.
Manage the renewal process for assigned accounts, ensuring timely and accurate underwriting decisions.
Analyze account performance and market conditions to determine appropriate pricing and terms.
Collaborate closely with Broker Specialists to support broker relationships and ensure a unified team approach.
Maintain underwriting discipline while balancing retention and profitability goals.
Communicate effectively with brokers regarding renewal terms, changes, and underwriting rationale.
Monitor rate adequacy and contribute to portfolio management strategies.
Provide input on underwriting guidelines and product enhancements based on renewal trends.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in underwriting systems.
Some travel for key in-person meetings, client meetings and industry events.
Regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications:
1-2 years experience in E/S insurance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
