The Repair Center Engineer for Leica Biosystems is responsible for performing maintenance, modification, repair and harvesting on Leica Biosystems mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and refrigeration instruments.

This position reports to the Director of the Service and Repair Center, is part of the Service Organization, and will be FULLY ONSITE at our facility located in Richmond, IL.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform maintenance, modification, repair and spare part harvesting on Leica Biosystems mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and refrigeration instruments.
  • Identify root cause of instrument malfunctions and determine feasibility of repair.
  • Test instruments to certify and harvest spare parts

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, OR equivalent technical certification AND 1+ year of field service, repair or medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Proven knowledge in use of hand and power tools, and digital multimeter
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to examine, troubleshoot and solve problems

Travel & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • This position requires up to 5% driving travel to and from our facility in Deer Park, IL, and flying travel to our facility in Vista, CA for recurring trainings, which will include overnight stays.
  • This position requires the ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. unassisted.  Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.
  • This position may involve exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, radioactive, and/or infectious materials and environments. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, and other applicable safety equipment, will be provided and must be worn as required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Refrigeration or Electro-mechanical equipment repair
  • Working with test equipment (hardware and software), testing electrical and mechanical products.
  • EPA certification Type I 608.

The hourly range for this role is $25.00-$30.00 per hour. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
