Job Title: Repair Technician


Job Description


The Repair Technician assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs FAA-approved temperature-controlled cargo containers while managing warehouse operations and material movement. This role ensures that containers are delivered clean, structurally sound, and free from defects that could affect performance. The technician also supports customers with technical assistance, provides training and demonstrations on active systems, and maintains accurate documentation of all work performed.


Responsibilities


+ Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair FAA-approved temperature-controlled cargo containers to ensure safe and reliable operation.

+ Perform structural repairs on cargo containers, including patching holes, drilling out rivets, and installing new rivets.

+ Deliver containers that are clean, structurally sound, and free from defects that could impact operation or performance.

+ Manage warehouse operations and material movement, including receiving, organizing, and staging containers and parts.

+ Respond to technical assistance requests from customers in the assigned area and provide timely, professional support.

+ Provide training and demonstrations of FAA-approved active temperature-controlled systems to customers in the area.

+ Document all work performed using the CATS and CSafe work order systems, ensuring accurate and complete records.

+ Monitor stock levels of spare parts and report or request replenishment as needed to support ongoing repair operations.

+ Pick up and drop off RKN containers from and to customers as required, ensuring safe handling and proper documentation.

+ Maintain the repair facility in a clean, safe, and operational condition, including organizing tools, equipment, and materials.

+ Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical, structural, and minor electrical tasks.

+ Collaborate with team members and follow established procedures to meet quality, safety, and performance standards.


Essential Skills


+ Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair work.

+ Experience using hand and power tools for mechanical and structural tasks.

+ Assembly or repair experience beyond basic assembly line work.

+ Structural repair experience, ideally involving aviation, sheet metal, or similar applications.

+ Basic electrical knowledge sufficient to support troubleshooting and repair activities.

+ HVAC or construction experience that supports working with mechanical and structural systems.

+ Familiarity or connection to aviation environments or equipment.

+ At least 1–2 years of relevant mechanical, repair, or technical experience.

+ Ability to follow documented procedures and accurately record work in electronic systems such as CATS and work order tools.

+ Strong attention to detail to ensure containers are free from defects and meet operational standards.

+ Capability to manage material movement and basic warehouse tasks safely and efficiently.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience with Part 145 repair station operations is a plus.

+ Prior military experience is considered an asset.

+ Background in aviation, sheet metal, HVAC, or electrical work is highly beneficial.

+ Comfort working in a repair facility environment with large cargo containers and related equipment.

+ Ability to provide customer-facing technical support, training, and demonstrations.

+ Valid driver capability to support pick-up and drop-off of containers, as required by the role.

Work Environment


The facility operates on a first shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The warehouse environment is very clean and organized. While the facility is not temperature-controlled, conditions remain relatively stable and comfortable for most tasks. You will work around large temperature-controlled cargo containers, using hand and power tools, and interacting with warehouse equipment and materials. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures to ensure reliable and compliant repair operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
