Job Duties:

  • The CERCU (Central Employment Referral and Compliance Unit) Eligibility Specialist performs complex casework duties by screening cases, determining eligibility or continued eligibility, and resolving alerts for all cases assigned to the TANF work program.
  • In accordance with federal/state regulations and agency policies, determines continued eligibility for SNAP and TANF by utilizing all systems and tools that have been established by the agency, processing cases in accordance with guidelines for timeliness and accuracy, and processing alerts for county of residency and other counties. Maintains electronic case files (in agency designated system) accurately and timely for documentation and auditing purposes. Identifies and documents overpayments and makes referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit when necessary; prepares summaries and supporting documents for Fair Hearings and attends hearings as directed. Processes all changes and alerts needed to ensure accurate benefit issuance for cases assigned to the TANF work program.
  • Researches policy and procedures to determine the best case processing for all cases assigned to the TANF work program. Assigns all newly approved TANF work program cases to the appropriate Family Success Coach according to the case rotational chart and WINS system. Resolves errors in CHIP/SCOSA/WINS as needed by referring to policy and procedural guidance and/or supervision for cases assigned to the TANF work program.
  • Processes case sanctions, assigns 2022s, employer tax credit verification inquiries, WIOA benefits verifications, and support services requests as needed to support cases assigned to the TANF work program.
  • Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A High School Diploma and at least five (5) years of experience in Social Work or Social Services programming.

Preferred Qualifications

SNAP or TANF experience highly desired
