PURPOSE:

Develops and implements associate communications plans and strategies to support major business objectives. Works to manage and continuously improve internal communication processes utilizing publications, video production, meeting production, speeches and presentations, internal broadcasts and measurement tools. Works closely with executive and senior managers and various departments to coordinate, streamline and enhance communication with division associates. Develops innovative, strategic and creative solutions to communication challenges to ensure key messages are effectively shared with all audiences, creating dialogue wherever possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements and manages division level communications strategies to elevate associate knowledge and awareness in order to achieve business objectives and support division culture.
  • Works closely with division teams to understand associate issues, perceptions and questionsin order to ensure that internal communications needs are met.
  • Works with Human Resources Department to communicate activities within the division.
  • Provides communication support to division team. Organizes and develops strategies for communicating and supporting special projects and initiatives.
  • Develops content to highlight associate brand both internally and through the use of social media.
  • Writes and manages content for division publications, presentations, speeches, and videos.
  • Develop internal training and communication videos, including videography and editing. Work closely with Division Learning and Development Team on L&D program development.
  • Coordinates and supervises print and media vendors, approve final drafts and layouts, and manages publication/media production and distribution.
  • Develops and implements measurement tools to gauge effectiveness of all communications vehicles.
  • Serves as the media relations backup in absence of the Director of Communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field.
  • Excellent creative ability.
  • Excellent abilities in planning, writing, editing, production, and communications technology skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-pressure environment, working in a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to shoot high quality video.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in editing video, for multiple uses including training.
  • Experience in communicating to multiple units.
  • Ability to think both tactically and strategically.
  • Available to travel to stores throughout Southwest Division (AZ, NV, UT, NM, TX) for store openings, associate profiles, and cover stories about business programs, and contests.
  • Available to be on-call nights and weekends in the absence of the Public Affairs Manager.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in use of Microsoft programs.
  • Experience using video equipment and video editing software is required.
  • An orientation toward communication to, and focus on, store directors and store associates.
  • Ability to express and influence opinion.
  • Experience in building and executing large scale communication campaigns.
  • Proven ability in script writing, presentation building, speech writing, internal and external social media.
  • Receptive to feedback and ability to adjust accordingly.
  • Ability to provide executive team regular communication updates from the field as needed.
  • Strong writing skills, speaking skills, digital communication skills.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
  • Moderate travel across the Division (30%-40%).
