Marin County Printing Services is a full-service facility with state-of-the-art digital technology. If you can dream it, we can print it, from vehicle graphics and outdoor signage to business cards, volume mailings, and braille. Our highly experienced staff support printing services across the County.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Department of Public Works is seeking one full-time (75 bi-weekly hours) contingent Reprographic Technician to work on-site in our office in San Rafael, CA.
The Reprographic Technician is a journey level class responsible for fulfilling print orders by performing skilled and specialized work on small multi-colored and large offset presses and/or high-speed copier/printers related to the printing and wide format reproduction of a variety of County records and documents.
The successful candidate will assist users with submitting job requisitions using the online print management application system. They will provide support in all aspects of the production schedule including interacting with users, cross-training in various department functions, setting priorities, tracking progress and resolving schedule conflicts and problems. Primary responsibilities also include participating in the ongoing administrative aspects of the Division. The position is located on the fourth floor in the Marin County Civic Center in our Reprographics Division.

Our Highly Qualified Candidate: Has a broad range of reprographics and printing expertise. They have excellent organization and teaming skills. They are customer and results focused. As a Reprographic Technician, the successful individual must be able to establish effective collaborative relationships and work in a high paced environment with others, while maintaining safety. They are able to operate and maintain printshop equipment. In addition, the ideal candidate pays attention to detail and is able to follow written and oral work instructions necessary for navigating successfully within the dynamics of the printshop.

Any combination of education and experience and/or specialized training that would provide the knowledge and skills listed. Typically, equivalent to one year of experience in the operation of offset printing and peripheral equipment.
Certificates and Licenses
This position is required to travel between various County and business-related locations. Employees who drive on County business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid California drivers license for the class vehicle driven and must meet automobile insurability requirements of the County.

Reprographics requires extreme attention to detail to avoid costly re-prints. Describe your process for ensuring an order is 100% accurate before it leaves the shop. In your response, please include: How you perform quality checks during a long production run. A time you caught a mistake (either your own or a teammates) before the final product was delivered to the customer.

Reprographics is a physical job involving heavy paper rolls, sharp blades, and chemicals (toner/inks). This role involves physical stamina, including lifting heavy paper stock/rolls and safely operating cutting/finishing equipment.
