Department Information

The Department of Pediatrics employs nearly 1,000 faculty and staff who work alongside employees of Riley Hospital for Children and students of Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine (IUSM) to make Riley Childrens Health Indianas largest and most skilled pediatric system. Job Summary

The Division of Pediatrics Infectious Disease is seeking a Research Analyst. This position performs a wide range of tasks that optimizes the overall efficiency and productivity of the entire laboratory.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Financial (e.g., ordering supplies, reagents, and mice; LARC expense allocation) Organization and Inventory (e.g., refrigerator, -20 freezer, -80 freezer, liquid nitrogen).
  • Mouse colony management of KO and transgenic lines (weaning and genotyping) and Resistant and Susceptible lines (weaning). Assist with mouse experiments (e.g., iv, ip, and ro injections; oral gavage; health monitoring) and lab experiments (e.g., preparing samples for flow cytometry; extracting DNA/RNA, FlowJo data analysis; graphing results)
  • General lab tasks (e.g., oversee new personnel training, routine maintenance (calibration and cleaning) of laboratory equipment, preparing buffers and media, and preparing and testing parasite

stabilite stocks).

  • Biosafety and Chemical safety compliance including (but not limited to): Biosafety Level 2 work, proper waste disposal (coordinated through IU Environmental Health and Safety), hazardous material shipping and handling (training is provided), and oversee annual lab inspection.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex experiments while following research techniques and procedures.
  • Develops procedures and protocols in collaboration with leadership.
  • Prepares research reports or analyses for projects.
  • Maintains safety records and ensures safety/compliance procedures and protocols are followed.
  • May provide guidance and support to junior-level staff in laboratory operations.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelors degree in related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • Some related work experience.

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

The annual salary range for this position is $48,000.00 - $58,000.00. Salary may be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
