We are seeking an energetic, hardworking, individual, to fill a Research Animal Technician position in the laboratory of Dr. Omar Gharbawie (Department of Neurobiology at University of Pittsburgh). The lab conducts research on non-human primates to understand how the brain controls movement. The successful candidate will have broad responsibilities including training non-human primates; maintaining animal well-being; assisting with experiments in awake and anesthetized monkeys; maintaining animal records; preparing for and assisting with sterile surgery; ordering supplies and managing inventory; and assisting with lab maintenance and cleaning. The successful applicant is expected to work one late evening every month. Strong teamwork skills and experience in handling non-human primates are necessary. Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: animal training, anesthesia, intubation, catheterization, and animal surgery. Salary will be determined based on qualifications.
