Salary Range: $32,000 - $45,000

Position Summary:

  • This is a grant-funded position The Research Assistant the College of Science & Technology''s Earth & Environmental Science Department supports research activities in an interdisciplinary geochemistry laboratory. Assists with laboratory operations including sample preparation, analytical procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, inventory management, and organization of a shared research environment. Maintains accurate laboratory records and complies with laboratory safety policies and procedures. Supports research related to geochemistry, environmental toxicology, and emerging environmental contaminants. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental engineering, or a related field and at least 6 months of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • • Strong work ethic with demonstrated reliability, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
  • • Ability to quickly learn new laboratory and research techniques.
  • • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, and communicate findings effectively in writing and verbally.
  • • Ability to maintain accurate, organized laboratory records.
  • • Previous laboratory experience.
  • • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • • Ability to work independently and as part of a research team.
  • • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional laboratory environment.

Preferred:

  • • Experience with laboratory methods, sample preparation, or analytical instrumentation.
  • • Experience with instruments such as ICP-OES, XRD, or other material characterization equipment.
  • • Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.
  • • Experience working in an academic research laboratory
