POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEW

India China Institute is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant (RA) to work part-time with the institute, supporting digital communications. An ideal candidate for the RA position should be a self-starter who can work independently but also is comfortable reporting to Lead Faculty, collaborating with multiple team members, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask.

CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide year‑long support for the online international research seminar on Global Health hosted by the India China Institute. The seminar focuses on the histories, sociologies, and political economies of public health across Asia.
  • Assist with research, coordination, and administrative tasks that enable the seminar's scholarly and programmatic goals.
  • Coordinate with fellows, collecting, editing research proposals as needed, and preparing for seminars and meetings.

WORK MODE

This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.

Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee.

SALARY RANGE

$31.37 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a PhD student at The New School
  • Strong analytical skills, experience in interdisciplinary research, and interest in global health, Asian studies, political economy, or historical and sociological approaches to health systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects on overlapping timelines
  • Good writing and editorial skills are required.
