Duties and Responsibilities
Research involves processing of sediment samples according to EPA approved methods for faunal analyses. Specimens from sediment samples will be counted and identified using regional keys and laboratory reference keys. Assist other laboratory staff with maintaining specimen reference collections, files, and grain size analysis. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. or equivalent degree in biology or related field and 0-1 years of professional experience with responsibilities for laboratory work. Must have functional knowledge of principles and practices of biological techniques, the ability to apply biological concepts and terminology, and functional knowledge of rules, regulations, and systems associated with laboratory work. Must have skills in recognizing problems, identifying probable causes, and resolving issues that may occur in laboratory work; the ability to understand oral and written documentation to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships; and the ability to operate a personal computer and word processing skills.
Desirable Qualifications
1+ years experience with benthic sample processing and sample identification and experience with EPA methods for faunal analyses.
