Schedule: 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology is recruiting for a pre-doctoral research assistant to work within Dr. Jin Wei's research team. We are a basic research group focused on the role of the juxtaglomerular apparatus in regulating renal hemodynamics and systemic blood pressure. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our research team. Responsibilities of the Research Assistant include performing experiments, taking care of animals, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining accurate research records, and assisting with general laboratory operations. The Research Assistant will also support the principal investigator and research team in executing research projects, interpreting experimental results, and preparing data for presentations, manuscripts, and grant application.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The pre-doctoral research assistant will perform bench work, perform animal surgeries, collect and analyze data, generate figures, prepare manuscript, and take care of animals.
• The position will support the principal investigator and research team in collaborated projects.
• The Research Assistant will also assist with laboratory management and daily operations, including maintaining laboratory organization, monitoring inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor''s required. Master's preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Prior experience in wet-lab research is preferred.
• Experience working with animal models (e.g., mice) or willingness to learn animal handling and surgical techniques preferred.
• Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, or physiology techniques (such as PCR, Western blot, histology, cell culture, or microscopy) is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Ability to follow detailed experimental protocols and maintain accurate research records.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with data analysis or statistical software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team.
• Must be able to follow laboratory safety procedures and institutional animal care regulations.
• Must be able to maintain accurate and confidential research records.

Compensation Range:

$16.35- $22.84

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
