Job Title: Research Assistant

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Assistant position. We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Research Assistant position so support two federally funded studies focusing on improving behavioral health outcomes for justice-involved youth. The first study, e-Connect, is a large multi-site implementation project across seven Indiana counties examining the effectiveness and scale-up of a system-level intervention to identify suicide risk among youth on probation and link them to behavioral health treatment. The second study, Peer-Connect, examines the effectiveness of combining e-Connect with family peer support services to reduce suicidal ideation and behaviors (SIB) among youth on probation by improving behavioral health screening, referral, and treatment engagement.

This role will support day-to-day coordination and implementation of study protocols across both projects, including assisting the PI and project director with data collection and management, supporting the development of project materials, coordinating trainings and project logistics, maintaining communication with county probation and behavioral health partners, supporting regulatory and reporting activities, and facilitating collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.

Other activities will include assisting with literature reviews, development of bibliographies, formatting manuscripts for publication and assistance with grant application development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting in development and upkeep of study materials and manuals
  • Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of study protocols and operations manuals
  • Assisting in coordination of professional meetings or events and composing correspondence with other collaborators
  • Facilitate data collection, management, cleaning, and analysis of administrative datasets
  • Support the preparation, development, and distribution of data reports to external partners and stakeholders to ensure quality and validity
  • Conducting interviews, check-ins, and focus groups with project stakeholders
  • Interfacing with participating sites, allowing for effective coordination and scheduling of project activities
  • Collaborate with internal and external team (including data analysts, technical assistance providers, research partners, and other partnering agencies) to coordinate project activities and maintain study timelines.
  • Help maintain and grow new partnerships with study partners from NYS probation sites and partnering BH agencies participating in research and representatives from other partnering agencies throughout NYS
  • Assist in preparation of IRB submission
  • Complete literature reviews as directed and develop related bibliographies
  • Formatting manuscripts for publication and assistance with grant application development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field
  • (1) year of related experience in research in a similar area, or commensurate training experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics, REDCap or similar survey administration software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adherence to detail, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, able to work independently, under minimal supervision, and able to work effectively with study team
  • Any amount of experience working within the justice/legal system
  • Any amount of experience coordinating multi-site projects and working in research setting
  • Any amount of experience working with large data sets to clean, format data for analysis, and programming experience with SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R
