    Position Summary

    The Lampe Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The position will have an academic appointment in Biomedical Engineering and will lead and participate in NIH-funded research programs to develop technologies in biomedical ultrasound. These projects involve utilizing microbubbles, nanoparticles, and other related materials in combination with ultrasound to achieve advances in targeted therapy, early disease detection, and physiologic modulation.

    Experience working with Verasonics and other commercial ultrasound systems is highly valued. Software experience with coding for image and data processing and essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in design, evaluation, and application of acoustically active microbubbles and nanoparticles to solve challenges with disease localization and treatment. This position will serve as a project leader and will require extensive project conceptualization, organization, and execution, as well as data analysis and report, grant, and paper preparation, combined with instruction and trainee mentoring in the lab

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    • Ph.D. or other relevant doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
    • Candidates must have experience writing NIH grants.
    • A strong background in biomedical acoustics, ultrasound physics, contrast agents, and ultrasound imaging is required.

    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

    • The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and be creative, highly motivated, and able to work independently, with demonstrated experience in writing and executing grants.
    • The position affords the opportunity to mentor graduate students and undergraduate/professional students in translational research, contribute to the teaching mission of the Research Lab and develop collaborative research programs.
    • The candidate should have the interest in and ability to collaborate with other researchers and be willing to proactively write and publish manuscripts and plan and write grant applications.
    • The preferred candidate will have at least three years of demonstrated industry experience, as well as post-doctoral experience in a lab with experience in ultrasound enhanced therapeutics.

    Special Physical/Mental Requirements Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

    This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
