Job Summary/Basic Functions

The LSU Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 2 or 3 (RA2/3) for a one year period of appointment to plan, assist and conduct laboratory experiments on the research project "A Mechanistic Study to elucidate the role of Protein S in elevating the risk of Thrombosis in Obese, Pre-menopausal women". The incumbent is expected to manage and perform general day-to-day lab operations including daily and routine maintenance of lab equipment and instruments and lab safety inspection and management. They will analyze, summarize, and organize collected data together with the Principal Investigator and draft, edit and revise reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals. The RA2/3 will also purchase and/or recommend purchase of lab supplies, reagents and new equipment for research projects.

Successful candidates must be able to work with a high degree of self-motivation.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor''s

Required Field of Study: Basic or Health Science or Related field

Number of years required to perform the job: RA2 - Three (3) years of experience; RA3 - Five (5) years of experience

Type of experience required to perform the job: Research environment, clinical, and/or bench research experience

Substitution: RA2 - Master's degree in a basic or health science or related field with a minimum of 1 year of experience

RA3 - Master's degree in a basic or health science or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience or PhD in a basic or health science or related field
