    Who we are 

    The Texas A&M University School of Engineering Medicine (EnMed) is a first-of-its-kind program that merges medical education with engineering innovation. Based in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, EnMed prepares students to become “physicianeers” — medical professionals with expertise in medicine and engineering who are driven to design innovative, practical, and impactful solutions to revolutionize health care. 

    What we want  

    Perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Prepare proposals for funding agencies, operation of research equipment, supervision of graduate students and other lab/field personnel in research.

    What you need to know

    Schedule: May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours.

    Travel: Travel may be required.

    Responsibilities:

    Research

    Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support various research projects. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine research, keeping detailed records of data. Installs, operates, and/or repairs research equipment. Assists in planning and coordinating research projects. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results. Evaluates and summarizes experiment results.

    Research Publications

    Utilizes summarized results in scientific and/or clientele-oriented publications. Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

    Training

    Trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Two years of related experience in specialized and relevant field of research.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Animal Science/Care Surgery

    • Biological Assays including but not limited to cell culture, ELISA and qPCR techniques

    • Quantitative Analysis using statistical software such as Prism or R

    • Qualitative Analysis including image analysis

    • Data Analysis

    • Tabulation of Data for publication

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

    • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software.

    • Attention to detail.
