Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, the Research Associate provides operational support to the laboratory. The Research Associate will perform research experiments as defined by the PI.
This is an open-rank posting (there are 4 levels of Research Associate) - candidates will be hired into the level commensurate with their experience.
The Ceol Laboratory focuses on the role of BMP signaling in cancer and regeneration with a goal of modifying this pathway as a therapeutic strategy. The successful candidate would be a part of an interdisciplinary team of laboratory scientists, clinicians, and computational biologists that collaborate to study BMP signaling in normal tissue and human disease. The candidate will also be open to mentoring focused on development as a scientist and career advancement.
Experience Required:
Basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, protein preparation, gel electrophoresis). Mammalian cell culture experience.
Experience Desired (not required):
Illumina sequencing library preparation Basic bioinformatics and coding in R Experience using mouse disease models
Major Responsibilities (in addition to the standard set):
Use cell culture to assess BMP signaling and test BMP-targeting drugs. Work with patient-derived tissue to isolate and activate tissue-resident stem cells. Organize ordering and stocking of supplies and reagents for the laboratory.
