We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant II to join the Integrative Genomics Core. You will support a wide range of genomics workflows, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation, nucleic acid extraction, and quality control processes.

The Integrative Genomics Core provides comprehensive genomics services to support cutting-edge biomedical research. Leveraging advanced platforms such as Illumina, PacBio, Nanopore, and 10x Genomics, the core enables a broad range of genomic and epigenomic applications. These technologies empower investigators to explore complex biological systems, from cancer genomics to translational and precision medicine studies, within a highly collaborative, service-oriented environment.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Perform DNA and RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control
  • Prepare libraries for next-generation sequencing using Illumina, PacBio (SMRT sequencing), and 10x Genomics platforms
  • Execute high-throughput workflows with attention to consistency and quality
  • Track samples and metadata using laboratory information management systems FileMaker
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with core facility standards
  • Assist in method development, optimization, and validation of new genomics workflows under supervision of core scientists
  • Communicate effectively with core scientists regarding sample requirements, project status, and results

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, Genetics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of related experience in molecular biology or genomics with a Bachelor's degree or 1+ year related experience with a Master's degree.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid handling)
  • 2+ years of Direct experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation is preferred
  • Familiarity with Illumina sequencing platforms.
  • Experience with long-read sequencing (PacBio) and/or single-cell or spatial genomics workflows (10x Genomics)
