Job Description:

Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation seeks applicants for a part-time (20-30 hours/week), benefits-eligible Research Associate position. The position will work closely and collaboratively with the Principal Investigator, research team, and other stakeholders to plan, organize, and execute project requirements for a research study funded by the National Institutes of health focused on using a culturally tailored, smartphone-delivered approach to increase physical activity and reduce cardiometabolic disease risk among Black women.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, participant recruitment, screening, and enrollment; coordination of team meetings; intervention delivery; data entry and monitoring; and preparation of reports and presentations summarizing study progress and outcomes.

This position requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate participant availability and study needs. Research activities, including participant assessments and intervention-related interactions, may occasionally be conducted as early as 7:00 a.m. and as late as 7:00 p.m. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours when needed to support participant engagement and successful study implementation.

Salary: $22 - $27 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator, research staff, and key stakeholders to support successful project implementation, ongoing operations, and achievement of study objectives.

  • Work effectively both independently and within a complex team environment, exercising sound judgment within established policies, procedures, and study protocols.

  • Assist in defining project scope, goals, timelines, and resource needs; identify and engage appropriate internal and external resources to support project success.

  • Coordinate and support project activities, including participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, intervention delivery, study assessments, scheduling, and retention efforts.

  • Administer standardized assessments and interventions in accordance with approved study protocols and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor project progress, track milestones and deliverables, maintain project documentation, and assist in preparing status reports and responding to project-related inquiries.

  • Identify potential risks, trends, and operational issues; recommend and implement solutions to support project effectiveness and successful outcomes.

  • Assist with regulatory reporting, compliance activities, budget preparation and monitoring, and other administrative functions as assigned.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with project team members, participants, community partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Maintain project calendars, schedule appointments, coordinate meetings, and initiate confidential correspondence on behalf of the project.

  • Conduct participant interviews and study-related interactions by phone, virtually, or in person.

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report study data and results using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to audiences, as needed.

  • Handle petty cash and maintain associated records in accordance with university and project policies.

  • Operate standard office equipment and technology required to support project activities.

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate participant and study needs, including occasional early morning, evening, or adjusted work hours.

  • Perform physical activities associated with research operations, including frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or transporting materials and equipment as required by project needs.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and project success.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, social work, kinesiology, exercise science, healthcare delivery, or related field.

  • Previous experience collaborating on community-based health promotion research projects or public health campaigns, including those focused on reducing health inequities/disparities.

  • Previous experience working on an NIH-funded research study.

  • Previous experience and/or stated interest in the areas of physical activity, public health, health promotion, and health inequities/health disparities.

  • Knowledge of basic leadership practices.

  • Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.

  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

  • Work collaboratively across various departments, as well as with populations and groups across the University.

  • Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, and using mouse and keyboard.

  • Ability to use calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copier.

  • Use of basic math and a calculator.

  • Professional representation of department/programs.

  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk (light, moderate, long) distances to perform work.

  • Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to 10 pounds (sedentary) - up to 20 pounds (light) - up to 50 pounds (medium) - over 50 pounds (heavy).

  • Required to work weekends, evenings, nights, on-call as regular part of the job.

  • May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.
