Overview:
The Gallagher Laboratory studies clinical, translational, and basic aspects of normal and perturbed blood development and inherited and acquired disorders of the erythrocyte. Interests include genetic bases of erythrocyte volume regulation in normal and disease states such as sickle cell disease. Another focus is study of gene regulation in hematopoiesis including role of specific transcription and epigenetic proteins, chromatin architecture and DNA methylation, on the regulation of entire programs of genes. His group applies omics strategies, including scRNA and microRNA transcriptome analyses, RNA seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, CUT&tag technology, ATAC sequencing, genome-wide methylation studies, as well as phosphor- and quantitative proteomics techniques, to the understanding of hematopoiesis
