The Department of Curriculum Instruction and Special Education along with the UVA School of Education and Human Development is seeking a Postdoctoral candidate in Reading Education.
This position is initially funded for one year with the possibility of extending for one to two additional years. The role involves both research in Reading Education and classroom teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Eligible candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or Ed.D. within the past five years. This is a 12-month position designed as a training opportunity for those pursuing a full-time academic or research career. The appointee will work under the supervision of a senior faculty member with opportunities to publish research findings during the training period.
The position includes 50% teaching responsibilities in collaboration with the Reading Education program and 50% research, allowing for experience in designing, conducting, and disseminating research alongside a faculty mentor.
Job Duties Include:
Postdoctoral Employment Details: Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career. It is supervised by a senior scholar and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.

Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Work Arrangement: This position is based in Charlottesville, VA and must be performed fully on-site.
