Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Compliance Supervisor 2 will provide direct supervision to professional and technical staff supporting the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) research compliance, biosecurity, and quality assurance programs. They will serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to faculty, leadership, and administrative units on regulatory requirements related to animal research and associated compliance frameworks, including AAALAC, USDA, OLAW, and FDA GLP. They also oversee and administer compliance program operations, including audit readiness, policy development and implementation, and regulatory interpretation. They will manage compliance-related committees and institutional processes related to animal care and use oversight. Direct and maintain quality and compliance systems (e.g., SafetyCulture, Doctrack, Cayuse/eSirius, RATS, and training compliance platforms) to ensure accurate documentation, audit traceability, and regulatory readiness. They are responsible for managing workflows, identifying areas of institutional and operational risk, and implementing corrective and preventive action (CAPA) strategies to support compliant and efficient research operations. They will also provide leadership in inspection readiness and serves as a key liaison with internal and external regulatory bodies.

Salary Range: $88,900.00 â€" 190,300.00 Annually

Required:

  • Bachelorâ€s degree in biological sciences, public health, regulatory affairs, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in animal research compliance, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including staff development and performance
  • management
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations governing research compliance
  • (e.g., AAALAC, USDA, OLAW, DEA, GLP)
  • Ability to interpret complex and ambiguous regulatory requirements and translate into institutional
  • policy and practice
  • Strong program management skills, including setting priorities, managing multiple initiatives, and
  • driving outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to assess compliance risk and implement mitigation strategies
  • Experience overseeing or directing audits, inspections, and corrective action processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to leadership and
  • regulators
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across functional areas

Preferred:

  • Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CPIA, RAC, CIP, or similar)
  • AALAS certification (LATG or higher) or equivalent
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
  • Experience developing policies, SOPs, and training programs
  • Ability to use data and metrics to drive program improvements
