About the Position
This position is in the Bureau of Data and Compliance within the Office of Special Education (OSE). Duties will require knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), State Board of Education Chapter 74, Rule 19, U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs Federal Data Collection and Reporting Requirements, and the Mississippi Student Information System (MSIS). This position requires regular communication with LEA Special Education Directors and Administrators, the MDE OSE Data Team, and Stakeholders. This position will assist in collecting data for the December 1 Count, Child Find, and Determination reports for the OSE. This is required by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and IDEA. The position will also provide support to the LEAs regarding data and reporting, data reporting and analysis, report development, and related follow-up activities. The position will assist in the Integrated Monitoring Systems by monitoring Districts in the Cyclical and Intensive stage. This position collects, maintains, analyzes, and reports special education data to support the Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Special Education. Responsibilities include assisting with the December 1 Child Count, Child Find, Determination, and other data collections required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), and the State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR). The position uses spreadsheets and databases to develop reports, perform data analyses, and ensure the accuracy, quality, and integrity of reported data. Additional responsibilities include providing technical assistance to local education agencies (LEAs) on data collection and reporting requirements and supporting integrated monitoring activities, including monitoring districts in the Cyclical and Intensive stages, to promote compliance and continuous program improvement.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
