Job Description and Duties
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor I, the Research Data Analyst (RDA) II is responsible for extraction and analysis of housing and homelessness data for purposes of tracking and reporting for Housing and Homelessness Division (HHD) programs. The RDA II must have an understanding of data collection, research and statistical methods, housing and homelessness programming, and the general principles, concepts, and terminology used in research.

Working Conditions
The Housing and Homelessness Division is currently a hybrid workplace. Periodic on-site work may be required for this position.
This position can be filled in the following locations:
ALAMEDA, BUTTE, FRESNO, HUMBOLDT, LOS ANGELES, ORANGE, PLACER, RIVERSIDE, SACRAMENTO, SAN DIEGO, SAN MATEO, SANTA BARBARA, SANTA CLARA, SONOMA
This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the CDSS policies. For positions advertised in more than one location, headquarter location may be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location in accordance with operational need and available space. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Please describe how your experience, education, and training qualifies you to perform the duties of the position. Please include any experience you may have with assessing data quality and providing technical assistance.
Please describe your experience defining appropriate research questions, developing rigorous research methodologies, and tailoring research findings to a variety of audiences. Please be specific about the types of data analyzed and which software, if any, were used.
Describe your experience collaborating with and presenting information to diverse audiences (internal, federal, state and county agencies, advocates, legislative staff, community-based organizations, etc.). What was the outcome?

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis capabilities and strive in a team setting. Desirable qualifications for this position would be a person who has strong project management, analytical and data design skills. Knowledge and use of data analytic and visualization software such as Power BI or Tableau is preferred, but not required. Other desirable qualifications for this position would be experience in identifying and implementing improvements to data-related processes and experience in communicating complex data analyses to management.
